NOTErious - Modern Notes App
About this Project
Developed a comprehensive modern notes application called NOTErious as a senior design project at Michigan State University. The app features a clean, intuitive interface with advanced note organization capabilities.
One app, every input
Notes can be typed, handwritten, spoken, or scanned from a document, and the app treats them all the same way.
AI that reads documents
The built-in LexifAI engine pulls text out of PDFs and screenshots, then answers questions about what it found.
Handwriting to text
A custom recognition pipeline converts natural handwriting into clean, editable text in real time.
A living interface
A fully custom animated background and a gesture-driven canvas make the app feel alive without slowing it down.
Building the OCR and handwriting pipeline from scratch was the biggest risk. Off-the-shelf models struggled with messy notes, so I trained and tuned custom models until they handled real student handwriting reliably on a phone.
NOTEorious shipped as my senior design project at Michigan State and became the foundation for LexifAI and the handwriting system, both showcased separately on this site.
